Nun, Total Control – Afterlife, Dark Mofo, The Odeon Theatre, Hobart, TAS (2014-06-21)

Afterlife Poster

This show was held both upstairs and downstairs at The Odeon Theatre in Hobart. Nun played upstairs in a small room, Total Control played on the main stage. Native Cats played an amazing set upstairs before Nun, but I wasn’t able to get anywhere near a good enough position to be able to record them (it was super packed). I’m also particularly happy with both of the cover photos for these two sets.

NUN
Nun played this awesome set to a tightly packed room. Thankfully I squeezed my way to the front between the Native Cats set and this one, so I was able to get a pretty good spot and a nice recording.

Nun

02 – Uri Geller
03 – Solvents
04 – Terrormaze
05 – Evoke The Sleep
06 – In Blood

TOTAL CONTROL
What’s there to say? Total Control are one of the most powerful live bands I’ve ever seen. There are moments of bliss that stick with me; the way DX spits “no ssssssss-cab” during Two Less Jacks, the uneasy buildup of Sweaty, the rabid viciousness of No Bibs, the fucked/incredible drum fills during One More Tonight, the “blame, blame, blame, blame, blame, blame…” backing vocals during the final creshendo of Systematic Fuck… Jesus. Great band. I’ll probably do more eulogising when I post the Hugs & Kisses set. Keep in minds this is recorded in a massive room, so the sound can be quite boomy at times.

Total Control

01 – See More Glass
02 – Expensive Dog
03 – No Bibs
04 – One More Tonight
05 – Sweaty
06 – Two Less Jacks
07 – Retiree
08 – Systematic Fuck
09 – Black Spring

Total time 32mins.
