M.O.B., Multiple Man – Maggot Fest Vol. 4: Day One, The Gasometer, Collingwood, VIC (2013-11-01)

Maggot Fest Vol. 4: Day One FlyerI went to Maggot Fest with the intention of recording much more than I ended up by doing, and of the things I did record these two sets are the only ones that turned out. Thankfully these were my two favorite sets of the entire night, and both sound great. The entire lineup of Maggot Fest was amazing, but unfortunately this was the only show that I was able to make it to.

M.O.B.
Of all the bands on the lineup I was probably most intrigued/excited to see M.O.B. I’d been following their recordings online for quite some time, and was very interested to see how their sound translated to a live environment. Totally amazing bleak-as-fuck synth/drum-machine/violin combo. As far as I was aware the band were a duo, so it was a surprise to see three of them up there. Really, really fucking good.

MULTIPLE MAN
As I’ve said before, Brisbane’s favorite robots in people-skin Multiple Man are fucking awesome and deserve your attention. This show was notable in the fact that, due to malfunctioning guitar equipment, it was a synth-only show. They played some new, decidedly dancier material as well as a couple of tracks from their first cassette. I also saw them play an excellent show a couple of days after this that I’ll upload soon – both are worth a download, both are amazing. Vocals are a little buried in this mix, but it’s hardly a problem.
